They are looking good and for sure the have high quality but still I have no need at all to buy them. Besides I already have wall decorations in the living room. I had to conform to his weird sport zeal. I am glad it is all over. I will never-ever again have anything to do with sports. I am even considering dropping my jogging because it reminds me of sport. She buys things that have no purpose and have no real value. She does this only to buy. I think she loves the process of shopping no matter what she buys. Spending some time in the shopping centre meeting with her friends there – I don’t mind it, but I feel terrible since lately she had turned to internet shopping. She can buy dozens of stuff in half an hour. I had limited her to one thin per day only. Today she bought one sunshine metal sculpture. She has absolutely no use of it. We have boxes full with wall decorations in the garage. They say people will mutate and their appearance will change. People will become deafer, they will become bolder. The skin will be darker and the nose the eyes and the teeth will shrink. The senses that we used to have as necessity for hunting will degrade. Muscle’s mass will be lesser the mouth will look like a frog’s mouth and so on. Those are only prognoses but imagine if this happens for real. I have no doubt people will still find beautiful ones amongst them but if we evolve like that I don’t want to live in the future.

My Bedroom Is All I Want

We were on a small trip to visit our relatives few days ago – me and my husband. Our car had broken in the middle of nowhere so we had to stop and spend a night in a motel. It was a ordinarily looking motel but when we entered the room I saw nude metal wall sculptures hanged on the wall. I think this was the most inappropriate wall decorations I can think of. It was not a big deal but it had not made me fell comfortable inside this room. To sleep in my bedroom was my only wish. I had to spend just few days not sleeping there and I had felt most uncomfortable. I love my bedroom. It is decorated with nice soothing landscape picture and it has the best bed in the world. I hate trips because I had to sleep at some place else.

When you buy stuff from the market are you always sure you by the right one? The market economy we have is an engine and is a corner stone around which everything in our lives turns. Economics is engine for people’s motivation and is key element responsible for our modern technological advancement. This all sounds good but is the state of our current economy humane? Does it response to our needs? I liked it so far. Clothes smell good, there is no static electricity in my artificial wool blouses and ironing is improved. Yesterday I had noticed something. There was some fine scent in one of my blouses I do not like. It was reminding me to vomit. It was vaguely present but I had sensed it. What was interesting is that it was only this particular blouse. Then it came to me. I had used my new perfume on it an hour before placing it in the washing machine. It is the only explanation why it has this faint scent of vomit. It may have happen some chemical reaction. Who knows what kind of organic compounds they are in the washing powder, the softener and the perfume.

If I Tell Her There Will Be a Scandal

My wife placed a cactus metal art sculpture in our bedroom. Roughly speaking this is a condition of your mind when people get used to do certain things in one and the same way and they feel happy about it. This theory is according to one guy called Brian Tracy. I have red some of his books and I can say that he has a point. Of course I do not agree 100% with him but still he has some pretty good ideas and he is right about many things. Actually I took some of his advices and I believe I had gained from this. There is a point sometimes to seek for other man’s opinion. I started to avoid this zone of comfort and I have true results now.

My Canadian Memory

I spend last summer in Canada. I want to tell you I was fascinated by the nature of this country. Of course we have also a beautiful wild nature her in the USA but Canada has a unique atmosphere. I grew up watching it and it was my favorite time sitting in front of the TV set watching them. They don’t make such animation today. I find new movies for children a bit shallow. They look so nice that I had an urge to buy them right away. But the fact is that I already have lovely wall hangings everywhere in the house. They are all chosen by me and are in perfect harmony with all my other decorations. If I buy them I have no where to put hem. It would be inappropriate to do so. I will be sad for them if they stay unused and I can not take down any of my other beloved decorations, because I will start being sad for those I am going to take down. But they are so nice. When I see something nice I appreciate and I want to have it. They are not expensive and it won’t be reckless to buy them, only they will stay in some dark box neglected... Maybe if I buy them and hang them for weak then I get tem in a box and then one week later… maybe this will be a solution…

What Civilization Is

What is Civilization - cultural achievements, glorious victories, etc and so on blah- blah. I found it in most trivial things. Believe me or not but napkins and hot water mean civilization for me. Yesterday I had forgotten to buy napkins from the store. By the moment I had realized that every store has been already closed (maybe I should open 24/7 store selling these marvelous household inventions). As you know bad things don’t come alone. My boiler has broken down the same evening. So here I am sitting with no hot water and no napkins. No big deal you will say. I agree with you why is the fuss about all this? I just want to say how Civilization is measured in small things. Every major glorious events echoing through the history seems quite distant and in a second thought means nothing to me. I just want perfect accommodations at my home, this includes napkins and hot water all the time. Yesterday civilization had a fail with me.

I Felt Like a Weakling

I desperately need to go to the gym. Two hours ago I have to carry wrought iron scroll grille for a while. My wife had bought it and our car was parked few blocks away so I needed to carry it to there. At first it seemed not too heavy but after a hundred yards I started to feel it. I am no smoker I drink no alcohol and I have not visited my doctor for over a year but I had some real problems carrying this damn thing. I guess it is chair’s fault. In fact I think virtual games are the greatest challenge we parents face when we educate our children.

This Time I Made a Good Choice for a Gift

I thing for a man a cowboy western metal art is a good gift. They even gave me small welcome present - wrought iron grilles since I have little decorations in the house. Paper decomposes much faster that the plastic and this way it pollutes less. Paper also is wood and wood is natural to the environment in difference to the artificial plastic. But as I saw in one movie called Garbage Mountain that the paper packages we throw away actually can not disappear in natural decay process in the dump yards, because of the lack of oxygen there. It appears no matter plastic or paper we still pollute the environment. I wish I was the one to choose not my destiny to make it instead of me.

It Is a Time for Memoirs

The current governor of California will leave his office during January 2011. It seems he can change his line with ease. I wonder what he might do next. It is logical to sit and write his memoirs. He has a lot share about how he had achieved everything in his life. Each year I silent panic rises in my brain when it comes to buy presents for them. Last year they were pleased with the present which was my idea. We send them a picture of the family in a nice unique handmade wooden frame with flowers carved. This year I can not send them a picture again. I was thinking about some kind of metal wall art for kitchen but I am not pretty sure wheather they will like it. And my husband is not helpful. He says”Whatever you decide honey, I trust your judgment”. How convenient… He slips away from responsibility and this are his parents. I hate him in such moments.

Is Eating Ice-cream Healthy

My mother used to teach me I should not eat ice-cream because it is bad for my throat. She used to allow me only two times a weak to eat one ice-cream per day. Maybe because of this I had a dream to eat as much ice-cream as I want. It was the most delicious and sweet things on earth in my imagination. I don’t think that the ice-cream had anything to do with having a sick throat. I was having it no mater if I eat or I don’t eat any ice-cream. Children get sick because their immune system is not strong enough. Now when I feel pain in my throat and I eat cold ice-cream and I get a relief. I denied his words but now I have second thoughts about this. Few minutes ago I was browsing the metal-wall-art.com, the store I usually buy decorations for my wall. In fact I do not do it usually – I do it every time. Since the moment I had found this on-line store it was convenient for me and I always use it. I was searching for something new for my bedroom but I found nothing appealing to my eyes. Instead of searching another on-line store I have decided to postpone the purchase. Now when I dig deeper for the motifs of my behavior I can see that this is an act of conformism. My friend turns to be right.

China Restaurants May Not Be Real China’s

In China restaurants it is supposed that they sell china food. They sell for real a food different than the other restaurants but I think they don’t sell exactly a china food. I have been in China and I had tasted the food there. I had not repeated the same exercise eating real china twice. I like the USA china restaurants more. But now I am convinced that the only authentically piece I can find in my favorite restaurant is the metal bamboo wall decor the owner had chosen to hang there. I am sure it is written on the back made in China. And the plates and kitchen ware they are most probably from China too. But the food which is the essential part of a restaurant is not from China. It is not made by their receipts. And I am glad it is this way.

Meat Makes Me Hungry

I had noticed that when I eat meat I feel hungry in and our or two after that. It is interesting to me why that is. I know that meat is nutritious. I know that it gives you a lot of energy. In fact I can not live without eating meat. My body wants it. Strangely it makes me hungry. I am not fat even I eat a lot. I think I eat so much because the meat makes me do so. If I eat vegetarian food I am not so hungry. I throw away tons of useless garbage. I was surprised to see how many useless stuff I had accumulated during the years. But I also found long forgotten memories. I had dug up a peacock wall art I had taken from our old house. It is too old and with too different design and this was the reason this piece not to find a well deserved place on my wall. I still can not hang it but I love it. It reminds me of all the good and bad things I had experienced in my old house. It is all that remains from her. I had it in my hands for a while and then again I put it inside a dark box. This is where my memories are – in a dark box.

New Subway but Maybe Dangerous

I have red a material about the subway of the future. The author there was saying that in the future the trains below the ground will travel inside tunnels with no air inside. This will be so, because this way the friction will be reduces to minimum. This is a good idea but I am a little concerned how people will breathe if something happens and the train stops inside this tunnel. Anything might happen even having the best technical support and having the best organization. What if people need to stay few hours there? How they will breathe? Maybe some men still use them as an accessory to the costume they are wearing but it is simply a decorative part of their clothing. No one blow his/hers nose in an old time cloth handkerchief. I myself use sometimes such a handkerchief. It is more convenient for me to use paper towels and paper handkerchiefs and to dispose of them after use. But all the paper costs so much. I don’t mean it is expensive and I can not afford it, but the paper used for producing paper handkerchiefs and paper towels is a valuable resource. I think people must be environmental friendly and when they can they should use cloth handkerchief for it can be used many times. Be planet-friendly, please.

Visit to the Aquarium

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/the-o/2088289489/" title="Vancouver B.C. We had spent nice hours there and the children were having quite a fun, but I thought they would soon forget about it. It has been few months since then but the experience is still in their minds. Maybe they remember it because we bought from the aquarium one mermaid metal wall art which I had hanged in their room. They are no written records from those days. But is this true? I think fossilized remains are nothing else but written evidence of what had happened. And they are evidence that no one can fake. It is just the “language barrier” that is a hindrance of reading about the events. But scientists are the one that can decode the writings in the fossils. And scientists have said – dinosaurs have been extinct by meteorites. This is what I believe to be true, the other readings of the evidences are just speculations I think.

My Bad Measurements

Today I get one good looking motorcycle wall art. Today I had also found out there is no place to put it. My room is filled with classic auto art stuff. I thought I had figured it out but my new gain appeared to be larger than I thought. And it was me who had taken the measurements. What a shame. A double shame actually – first I failed to make a simple thing – taking measurements and second – to waste such a good looking art piece, since I have no place to put it. I have a friend of mine that shares my passion for classic bikes and cars. Maybe I will give it to him. Still it is a shame I was happy I will have it on my wall but now this is not possible.

Financial Freedom How to Achieve It

I think there is one major thing you should never do and if you don’t do it then you will certainly achieve your freedom. Never postpone anything. This may happen to everyone in every situation but what you must do is to thrive never to postpone. In order to do this you need to be self disciplined man. So if you achieve not postponing this mean you had achieved the necessary level of self discipline. And if you have this results will show to you in some time. It is very simple – not to postpone but this hides a lot of other qualities you must have in order to do it. So my advice – try to do this and you will be surprised.

How to Create Domesticity in Your House

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 134px; height: 200px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_3PwyAFR8Xas/TJuox6ZG3qI/AAAAAAAAAA4/PHMUhFKteuo/s200/shutterstock_3999394.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5520191343714295458" />

I will tell you how I do it. I add more texture in the interior. No matter the place and the season details and accessories that have rich texture are always making a good impression. For instance I have in the living room cane chairs and coffee table in the color of burned espresso. On the floor around them I have a cream colored small sea grass carpet. This I combine perfectly with my decorative wall candle holder, which has multi colors in shades of silver, bronze, gold and some kind of green. I have a big black plasma TV in the room also but it is not looking out of the scheme. It’s all about the texture and the colors. If you combine them well you will have a nice place to rest.

Help Can not Think of Nickname

All my friends in the net have awesome nicknames. It can not be in front of your entrance, can not be near where you sleep, can not be near to the kitchen where you prepare food and can not be near your living room where you eat or spent your free time – actually there is no place for the sanitary premise in your house at all. I am kind of follower of the Feng Shui but I think they had no solution for this issue. So I solved it by myself. I put whimsical butterflies metal wall decor in front of the doors of my sanitary premises. I think the colors and the fun of the butterfly negate the bad flow of energy and the metal I also the proper kind material for conducting and releasing energy. So this is how I solved this Feng Shui paradox.

More Parks Are Needed

In our modern cities green areas progressively loose ground to the steel and concrete buildings that we need so much for our development. But when we say development I think that we must take into consideration only the progressive and positive development. We people are product of the evolution of the Mother Nature. Concrete and steel structures do not exist naturally. We are making big mistake in our cities. They are quite a few places that preserve something close to the environment we had come from. I think parks and natural environment places must be much more than we have now. If it comes to that in fact the only piece of art in my house that I can guess right now are the turtles metal wall hangings in my lobby. But I want to write down a little about art. What is art, who decides that something is art? And why they are such majors in the universities that study about art. In my thinking the art speaks for itself alone. There is no need of people to analyze, criticize or put on pedestal some items. Art speaks for itself – no books no experts can tell you what to feel when you see it. And I think whoever tries to study about art is simply wasting his/her time. Like my daughter for instance.

Car Racings Are Boring Competitions

I like sports and I like cars. By watching car racing I score them both. I used to enjoy watching car races but now I think they are boring. I lost my interest because there is no thrill in that competition. As it seems to me it is of no importance which pilot will drive you car. Sport is about the people who make the achievements. When racing with cars you must simply be lucky to have contract with the best constructor. If your car is bad you can do nothing. I am not against having different cars, but the difference usually is too obvious. Former champions get out of position with no chance of wining at all only because of their cars. It is not interesting this way.

How to Make my Kitchen Livelier

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 134px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_3PwyAFR8Xas/TG7FSu_u8nI/AAAAAAAAAAY/f5hB16Pkbkk/s200/shutterstock_19838533.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5507556319964361330" />

My kitchen is too sterile. Bathroom for instance can look this way but kitchen is the place where I spend more than half an hour per day so I want to make it appear livelier. Now I am up to the idea of putting some kind of decorative wall art on the wall I face when I cook. Their director said that he will let the children to make the outdoor wall decorations of the kinder garden’s yard. Of course it will not be permanent decoration but if children create something that everybody likes they might make it permanent. He said that the children have a different taste of life than us adults. And the perfect designer for kids is the kids themselves. And also letting the kids express themselves is something that we need to encourage all the time. I can do nothing more but agree with him. I know that in most families women cook but in my family I often lend my hand for cooking and I cook instead of my wife. I find the process very relaxing. And I might say it is challenging also. You can always experiment in the kitchen with new meal and when it happens to be good you feel happy about it. Actually the process of organizing the kitchen, the preparation of the food, the selection of the products is not such an easy task. And the process of preparing food can be time consuming or short as you like it. Cooking is a hobby that is both useful and relaxing. If you consider cooking not to be an obligation you can really enjoy it.

How to Embellish in Wrought Iron

The distinguished artisan need not be reminded to "strike while the iron is hot", as he is amply conscious that he has just a limited amount of time to hammer his wrought iron into a masterpiece from a heap of cold metal. Spontaneity guided by instinct forces his rapid hammer blows, and he is reassured by the fact that his fluctuations will make each piece even more valued. Such is much of the attraction of wrought iron wall art. Their stunning designs speak volumes of the natural lusting in man for expression, a want painted all over the sweaty tanned face of the master artisan as he works the iron. With plain or bent rods, with or without chisel-mark slits, whether with scrolls or quatrefoil, wrought iron wall art is incessantly a pleasure to lay eyes on. The tips that follow will give you some guidance for beautifying your own walls in majestic style with wrought iron:

Wrought Iron Suggestion: Wall Grilles
Anybody can adorn his wall with framed photographs if he cares to continue on the plane of the ordinary. It’s when one tries to express himself that he begins to look at wall grilles. This is because there’s something about wall grilles that’s almost - for lack of a better word - divine: simple, and at the same time profound, which, come to think of it, is what beauty is.

A well-designed wall grille will prompt a feeling of veneration. Perhaps it’s in speculating how severe and lifeless iron can have such svelte and supple lines, and what high level of skill must have been put into play to come up with such a thing of attractiveness. A better look at intersecting bars unveils straight pieces and crosswise threads, all beautifully wrought. One stares further, and he finds interconnected or woven grilles consisting of two series of synchronous small-diameter rods, one series at right angles to the other, every detail exuding with unbelievable craftsmanship.

Wall Sconces
Wall sconces for candles bestow a dateless dimension to the ambiance of the space, be it the bedroom or the dining room, taking one back to the glory days of medieval castles, kings, and princesses.

Wrought Iron Idea: Arch Plaques
An arch plaque makes for a splendid headboard even as a stand-alone accent in the bedroom.

Wrought Iron Suggestion: Mantelpieces
The monogrammed plaque is an ideal mantelpiece accent. Instead of a monogram, the family’s heraldic device, if any, might be utilized. Producing a focal point over the fireplace has never been simpler than when a wrought iron metal tree wall decor is put into position.

Wrought Iron Idea: Friezes and Accents
Perking up a door or wall is a piece of cake when a wrought iron frieze is placed above the door or on the wall. And while you do not want your tropical wall art to be so big that it is consuming, you also do not want it to be so small that it does not effect the aesthetics of the room either. A pair of candle wall sconces in an island motif is a great addition to a larger piece of tropical wall art when creating a focal point. Use them on either side of the large piece or stagger them to one side, assisting to illuminate the focal point by candlelight. Selecting fragrant candles reminiscent of the islands, such as coconut, mango or jasmine, will add a fragrant property to your display.

A large tropical wall art is perfect for setting an island mood on a large area of wall in the four-season room. Tapers set in hurricanes on a table under or sconces on an adjacent wall can illuminate your focal point after dark. From the repose of beautiful palms swaying in the island breeze to the exuberating look of lush tropical flowers, the options of metal tropical wall art are eternal.

Combine bamboo metal wall art with tropical birds and go a little bit wild. Macaws, parrots and toucan birds make a terrific compliment to the robust chunky lines of bamboo wall art. Ceramic or metal lizards and geckos can be positioned so that they seem to be going up the walls. Supply a potted tropical plant, such as a hibiscus or mandevilla that can serve as a houseplant year round and bring live island color to your four-season room.

Wall mirrors, throw pillows, table lamps, floor lamps, candle stands, matchstick roll-up shades, and a jute or grass area rug will also impart unrivaled authenticity to your theme. Wall accents and wall art are both in high demand because individuals simply want their houses to look great. Wall decor art typically encompasses a good array of design treatments and decorative accent items such as metal wall art, paintings and framed photos in the living room to the practical shelving and open racks found in bedrooms and kitchens.

Over the years, a growing number of buyers and savvy homeowners have turned to definitive pieces that are made to last, maximizing the popularity of functional metal home accents that are also multifaceted and perfectly stylish. Metal wall accents are timeless decor items that are a terrific investment for the discerning homeowner. In this article, we will give you a rundown of three of the most popular designs being sold in the market right now.

Fleur-de-lis wall grilles - Just like the trendy cottages that dotted the Tuscan countryside in days of yore, the effortless and svelte flair of the fleur-de-lis pattern provokes downhome appeal. Hanging these decorative wall grilles throughout the house helps you create a gratifying and amorous countryside aura, inspiring friendly conversations and family get-togethers. Homeowners often prefer this look in the busiest room in the home, the kitchen. Others have selected to hang up wall grilles with fleur-de-lis designs on gardens, terraces, and other outdoor areas. If you favor the rustic country design aesthetic, then this option is for you.

Antique mirror - Large antique mirrors not only bestow a feel of spaciousness to any space, they also fill up a blank wall with expressive style, grace, and flair. These pieces of large wall art extract old-world influence and create an elegant and stylish aura inside the bedroom or the living room. Owing to their classical and established designs, old-fashioned mirrors permit homeowners who want to adapt a turn-of the-century design concept in their living spaces to acquire such an authentic look. If you are one of those romantic types who love the look and feel of boudoirs, you may select this wall accent for your home.

The sunburst wall sculpture - While there are those who long for traditional and classical pieces, a growing number of homeowners, particularly the upwardly mobile ones have started to take interest in what has got to be the most favorite design in its genre- the sunburst wall sculpture. Alternately up-to-date, architectural, and cutting edge, these metal wall arts extract a feel of the dynamic and universal panache to any home. What's more, you can acquire these wall sculptures in a plethora of sizes, materials and textures, which makes it a piece of cake to integrate them into your current home design.

Whichever design you prefer, bear in mind that the design piece must be cautiously chosen and be complementary of your overall design concept. Otherwise, the addition of a new wall accent might look awkward or incompatible.

Additional Home Improvement Articles:
Marvels Forged in Iron: How to Shower Style on Your Wall
Changing The Paint To Change Your Room
Using the Color Wheel for Wood Tones
Decorating Walls Adds Interest to Any Room

Types of Metal Wall Sculpture

One could be pardoned if, like Rip van Winkle awakening after a 20-year sleep, he finds himself most pleasantly surrounded by a plethora of objets d’art that have mushroomed, replacing the conventional framed photographs that have perpetually embellished walls. Van Winkle would be startled to find art created of metal embellishing his walls, metal that he formerly believed was serviceable only in the construction of buildings. He’s even more delightfully astounded to find that such a material – which sometimes includes components one can only acquire in scrap yards – could be transmuted into a thing of beauty and a bundle of paradoxes. And even more so he is puzzled that metal, which is normally considered heavy weight, should be able to flutter with the slightest burst of wind. It’s cold, yet as a metal wall sculpture or any abstract metal art, the emotions it elicits is anything other than cold. He’s also stunned to find them everywhere – for instance as a 16-meter, 50-ton vermilion leviathan like Alexander Calder’s Flamingo which ornaments the Federal Plaza in Chicago, or as an exquisitely delicate and life-like praying mantis embellishing a lighted corner. Yes, from wrought iron wine art and musical metal artwork manufactured for indoor use to metal wall sculptures and grilles seen in public sites, metal wall decor art is now a fashionable decor essential that is here to stay. What follows are some facts that metal art fanciers should know.

Metal Wall Sculptures: Casting
Casting is the technique that is used for producing some metal sculptures, and it is sometimes alluded to as lost-wax casting. One of the most notable in this type is Benvenuto Cellini’s Perseus with the Head of Medusa statue in bronze with its startling detail and ample grace. In this instance, the artist pours liquefied metal (either aluminum, bronze, steel, or some other alloy) into a mold, allows the work to cure, and then removes it to expose the sculpture within. Next, the work of art is cleaned up, and oftentimes finished with a patina. Casting dates back 6,000 years, its oldest existing example being a copper frog from 3,200 B.C.

Metal Wall Sculptures: Manufactured

Manufactured metal wall sculptures are normally welded together, sometimes in unison with lighting accents that can make a beautiful work of fine art that can transform a uninteresting room. This type of artwork will endow any area of the house with instant zing, grace, and panache.
Patinized copper abstract modern-day wall art is an example. Additional examples may include abstract brass or steel sculptures that have been given a transparent tint finish utilizing a torch. All of them share the same three characteristics: handcrafted, painted by hand and different. There are all sizes on the market. Some are intended for outdoors, others for inside. Each artist has its own expressive style, and some have even gone so far as to differentiate in one specified category, developing their skills to flawlessness. There’s one artist, for illustration, who specializes in animals and insects, and whose frogs and praying mantises are unbelievably life-like and look like they couldn’t possibly be constructed of metal. There’s practically everything for everyone. There are human forms, animal forms, and yet still others which can’t be described by any other adjective than "alien" form.

Metal Wall Sculptures: Re-Purposed Artwork
One artist in this category – which is likewise known as "found object," "objet trouve," "readymade," or "junk art" -- distinguishes his work as "sculpture fabricated from twentieth century by-products," which ably describes art of this kind. There is a significance between found art and fabricated art, namely that found art begins with a product that has already been finished, such as a battered car fender, the base of a table lamp, or a piece of copper tubing, and then changed into something entirely unique. In this sense, found art finds kinship with the green movement slogan: re-use, re purpose, recycle.

More Interior Decorating Articles:
Masterful Ideas for Picking Out the Best Wall Accents
Using Abstract Canvas Wall Art in Modern Spaces
Fun Illusions to Create with Wallpaper

Guide to Decorating Your Home's Hallways

Even though the hallway is an essential part of most homes, some people undervalue the value of the hallway from an interior design viewpoint. A lot of people consider the hallway an unimportant area that is hardly worth any forethought or effort when it comes to decorating. But a well-designed and decorated hallway can decidedly enhance the aesthetic appeal of your home. And whether your home is a cottage, a condominium, or a mansion, the hints that follow can help transform your hall into a fabulous place that you are proud of:

-Visually counterbalance the hall by applying color and putting in appropriate lighting. Painting your walls and ceiling with bright and vibrant hues makes the space seem more spacious. This visual effect, coupled with sufficient lighting, induces interest enough for observers to pay more attention to the hallway’s design and furnishings. Lightly colored highly glazed tiles on the floor also help reverberate additional light around the hallway.

-Display exquisite fine art pieces with general motifs. Tropical artwork is a good selection, as is larger wall art that renders timeless scenes or beautiful landscapes. You may also hang up family photos sheathed in fluid frames. No matter which type of fine art you choose to display, think about accentuating it with accent lighting, like concave spotlights.

-Keep clutter under control in the hall area. In many cases, guests to your house will discover your hall first so be certain to avoid clutter in this area; the hallway should be pristine and neat. If the hall is the area of the interior where coats and handbags are commonly left, invest in some proper storage. By searching online and visiting a few furniture shops, you will have a broad range of free-standing coat racks, shoe racks, and shelving to choose from.

-In most instances, you should follow the design motif of your living room. Nevertheless, if your hall is spacious enough, you can select to give it a flair of its own. Remember that you are working with a very small space, so use moderation at all times. Avoid integrating and matching items from different design themes but instead look at each piece on its own merit.

-Select appropriate furniture for the hallway. If you have a Victorian-style interior, find a side table made of dark solid wood with intricate carvings. Modern designs may include metal or glass furnishings, while tropical or Caribbean motifs may feature bamboo or rattan accents or metal tree wall decor.

-Pay close attention to scale. The hall design should be well-balanced to the dimensions of your home, and should be both relaxing and hospitable. Furnishings and decor should be appropriate to the proportions of the house in order to avoid producing a cramped and drab look in the hallway.

Your hallway can be much more than just an area between rooms in the house with the proper amount of planning and attention to detail. The hallway can be an extension of your personality and expressive style. Choose your design sagely, and don’t permit the hallway’s small dimensions to stop you from thinking big.

Other Home Improvement Articles:
Types of Metal Wall Sculpture
Bringing Music to the Laundry Room
How to Accurately Measure Stairs for Carpet
Budget Ideas for a Whole New Look
Decorating a Guest Room with Animal Prints

Installing Carpet on the Stairway

Carpeting installed on your hardwood stairwell can give this part of your interior a cozy, comfortable feel. Furthermore, stairs that are carpeted are less hazardous and less given to cause a slip and fall where somebody could become hurt.

Even though many people assume that putting in carpet on the stairwell is a complex task, it is in truth rather basic and you need have only primary skills to do it yourself. And even though laying carpet on the stairs may not be as energizing as shopping for tropical wall hangings or wall decor art, doing so can save you a ton of money over paying a professional contractor.

The key to appropriately putting in carpet on the stairs is to take the precise measurements. Measuring is the first step when installing carpet. No matter what style you wish to use for this job, you want to start with the correct set of measurements to get you on the correct track. The following is a effortless step by step set of directions for the “waterfall” procedure of installation. The waterfall technique is perfect for common steps that have uniform width and general height. Let's look at how to take correct measurements when utilizing this technique of carpet installation.

Take measurements of the width of the whole stairway

The very first task you want to do is to measure the breadth of the total staircase. Staircases that are uniformly sized will only need that you measure the width at the stair's widest portion. Set one tip of a basic measuring tape at one end, and next measure across the breadth of the step to the other end. Make a note of the measurement and keep in mind that adding two to four inches of carpeting as a margin is ideal.

Measure the breadth of every riser

When we ascend up the steps, what we step on is called the “riser”. For the waterfall method, you essentially need one long piece of carpeting to encompass the whole set of stairs. Thus it is important to measure how wide every riser is. To take this measure, measure from the top of the riser up to the joint where the riser ends. Take a note of this measurement.

Take measurements of the "fall" of each step

The length between one riser and the next is the "fall". To measure the fall, start out at the end of one riser and stretch your measuring tape to the start of the next one. For stairs that have "nosing", the fall stops beneath the jutted out section. Write down this measurement.

Combine the dimensions for the fall and the riser

To do this, just sum up the two former measurements, and to this sum add a few inches for margin. This will allow you to neatly disguise the edges and the corners with enough carpet during the installation. Once you have determined the length of each step, including the allowance, you will only want to multiply this figure by the amount of stairs that you plan to cover. This will give you the total length of carpeting you need for the stairs.

Lastly, take these dimensions of entire length and width with you when shopping for carpet, and allow a pro to assist you in selecting the carpet for the job.

Other Home Decorating Articles:
Why You Should Look At Metal Wall Art
Changing The Paint To Change Your Room

Economical Home Suggestion: Reinvigorate Your Kitchen Cabinets

Frequently an aging kitchen only needs to accent its underlying charm. If you just bought a new home with an older kitchen or you want to make the kitchen you've been living with a bit more charming and picturesque, you can do it without replacing the cabinets or getting bogged down in stripping and refinishing. The following tips will help you create the look you want in your kitchen, without the hard work that is oftentimes needed in refurbishing kitchen cabinets.

Vintage Cabinets Makeover

Many older kitchen feature the retro charm of all white cabinets and black and white checkered counter tile. Brighten up the scheme with cheery yellow wall paint. For kitchens with curved corner shelves, outlining the edge of them in a perky blue shade is another great way to add color. You can add an open shelf trimmed in the same blue above the kitchen sink to display collectibles, coffee tins, vintage vases, and the addition of blue and white checkered curtains on kitchen windows adds retro polish. Brightly patterned ceramic canisters on the counter work to keep the color and the retro feel going. Add a spice rack or wooden shelf painted in blue on a bare wall to add a pop of color and a little extra storage. This color scheme is ideal for a number of themes, from Tuscan accents and sunflowers to roosters and cherries.

Effortless Fixes

- When cabinets must have a facelift, it's much easier to paint than to strip and refinish. To paint cabinets, you just need to lightly sand the existing surface. It's easiest if you remove doors and drawers, remove all hardware and work on a flat surface. Use a paint roller to make things go more quickly.

- Replace old cabinet fronts with glass for a quick facelift. Simply paint the interior of the cabinets with a deep shade that will allow you to showcase the contents of the cabinets.

- Perhaps the fastest and easiest update for kitchen cabinets is a quick and thoughtful change out of the cabinet hardware. This one small and simple change can work to provide inspiration for an entirely fresh and different color scheme and style that you can reinforce with the use of wall art, chair cushions, curtains and other accents. Glass knobs are ideal for hardware changes when you want to add some sparkle to a kitchen that is lifeless.

- A new backsplash can brighten up the kitchen inexpensively. Green and white tiles add cheer to a dark kitchen. Open up the entire area and reflect light by making a backsplash from mirrors. A glass store can cut mirrors for a perfect fit.

- Get rid of your upper cabinets and opt for open shelving instead. Shelving is much cheaper than new cabinets and you can paint them or choose hardware, like elegantly scrolled wrought iron brackets, to tie in with a theme. Open plate racks and storage let you introduce color and charm into a kitchen while also opening up the space. Hang cups or cooking utensils below the shelving for convenience and decorative appeal.

- Be a bit more risque and try a totally unanticipated theme in the aged kitchen: Try bold colors like yellow and mango as a backdrop for a tropical theme kitchen complete with palm tree wall art and tropical wall hangings.

Before rushing to replace or refinish cabinets look for other ways to bring color and brightness to the kitchen. Stylish wall art, wall paint, collectibles situated in different areas on the top of upper kitchen cabinets, and improved lighting can really make a huge difference in the overall aesthetic enjoyment of your kitchen.

Other Interior Decorating Articles:
Guide to Decorating with Wall Sculptures
Installing Carpet on the Stairway
Guide to Using Metal as Home Decor

Invite Into Your Home with Lighthearted Front Porch Decor

The first thing your guests see when calling is in all likelihood the front porch; the best way to create a lively welcome during the springtime is with a playful presentation of spring accents. After a long gloomy wintertime, impart a little color to your porch and supply a warm welcome to anyone who comes to your door.

Begin by Hanging a Wreath

A wreath bestows a fun and sunny springtime element for your front door. You will find umpteen spring themes on wreaths in your local craft or home store, including those featuring whimsical bunny rabbits, springtime flowers, and brilliantly colored eggs.
Or depending on how "crafty" you are, you can create your own extraordinary spring wreath. Start with a grape vine wreath, floral picks, vines and flowers that say spring, and your choice of accessories and a bow.

Magical Antique Elements

You can transform items like antiquated ash bins, water cans, and old buckets or other metallic containers into one-of-a-kind spring planters. Simple galvanized pails can be spruced up with bright yellow hues on the outside of the pail. Any container that will be loaded with live plants must have drain holes, so start by boring drain holes in the bottom of your metal container of choice, and then supply potting soil and granular fertilizer corresponding to package directions. A terrific option for a spring container is the cold-hardy pansy with their bright little "faces" that seem to bestow cheerfulness to even the dreariest wet day. Pansies can be exchanged with blooming annuals for summer color, like impatiens, petunia, lobelia, and geraniums.

More Ideas for A Spring Porch

When it comes to getting stunning and light-hearted accents for the porch, there are literally thousands of alternatives. From the home improvement store and garden center to a throng of online retail stores, there are truckloads of ornamental accents and wall decor art that may discover a
spot on your springtime porch.

- Use an old used seat to hold baskets of flowing springtime blooms and vines, producing a unique plant stand.
- Turkish Boxwood topiary make the ideal accent for filling a footed urn. Try a fleur-de-lis planter with a lightly distressed finish for a feeling of Old World style.
- Opt for individual concrete, metal, or ceramic decorative figurines and statues to lend a fun to the porch. Select from bunny rabbits, frogs, ladybugs, snails, porcupines, birds, dogs and cats. The list goes on eternally.
- Lend a decorative flag to your porch that invites spring with robins and tulips or chicks and Easter eggs. A fast online query will divulge a good number of retail merchants selling flags for all seasons.
- A tricycle or bicycle planter makes old-fashioned panache fresh once again with handbaskets that will hold pots of fresh blossoms. Mini garden carts are another captivating alternative.
- Lend country charm that can change with the times of year by setting up flower boxes under your windows or upon a porch railing.
- Plant stands and ladders for displaying pots of flowers, water cans, or small statues are ideal.
- Invite friends and guests to stay awhile with a couple of timeless rocking chairs, a traditional bench, or a classic porch swing.
- Nothing says spring like a welcome mat that features the blooms and colors of springtime.
- Bestow the sounds of springtime to your porch with frolicky wind chimes.
- Adorn the walls of your porch with a whimsical sun wall art that welcomes the hot days ahead.

Other Home Decorating Articles:
Economical Home Suggestion: Reinvigorate Your Kitchen Cabinets
Adding Candlelight to a Room Design
Decorating Walls Adds Interest to Any Room

Putting In Integral Pad Carpet

One of the most popular types of carpeting on the market is integral pad carpeting, which is carpeting that has its own cushiony padding that is attached to the back side of the carpeting and that rules out the need to lay down extra carpeting padding. Integral pad carpeting is also referred to as cushion-backed carpet and is the ideal flooring solution for concrete flooring because you do not need to apply nails or tacks to secure it to the floor. Integral pad carpeting is also ideal for smaller spaces such as bathrooms and closets as they can be placed and fitted on the flooring without the requirement for carpet tape. It is a good idea, however, to anchor larger sections of this kind of carpeting with double-sided tape, which precludes curling along the edges. There are different styles of integral pad carpeting, including Berber and cut-pile, and it comes in a smorgasbord of grains and colors.

Preparing the space to be carpeted

Just like installing any other type of carpeting, you have to make certain that the floor is completely clean and dried, is structurally complete, and has a relatively smooth or straight surface. Make sure that there is no dust, dirt, sticky residue or debris on the flooring. If the floor is not properly made ready, the double-sided tape will not stick properly. The materials that you will require for this task (other than the integral pad carpet and double-sided tape) include a measuring tape, carpet cutter, and chalk that will be essential for marking the carpeting for cutting. If the installation necessitates seams, buy a seam adhesive that is recommended for your type of carpeting material, as well as five-inch carpeting tape to use under the seam.

Measuring and cutting

Take accurate measurements of the perimeter of the space where the carpet will be put in, including the length and width of the area; add an inch to every side of the dimensions that you write down. This means that if the width is 60 inches, you must cut the carpet 62 inches, which allows for an extra inch on both sides. Do likewise for the length. Apply the chalk line to mark the line where you will cut the carpeting. Position the carpet on the flooring so that it covers the total area.

Finishing touches

Once the carpet is smoothly in place, start with a corner section and be careful not to slide the carpet out of place. Pull back or lift one segment of the carpeting and put a margin of carpeting tape underneath, directly onto the exposed floor. Smooth out the tape in its place, taking away any air bubbles, and then peel off the backing of the tape. Allow the carpet to fall onto the tape below, applying pressure that will cause it to stick steadfastly, and then smooth it out using your hands. A rolling pin might be used at this point to help smooth the carpet out nicely. This process should be replicated around the perimeter for all leftover carpet sides. After you have attached all sides to the floor, trim excess carpet from the edges. To finish, push the edges of the carpet below the mopboard. You might also consider placing a shoe molding on the carpet edges and then securely nail it to the mopboard.

For carpets that must be seamed, use five-inch carpet tape beneath the two segments and push the carpeting into the tape; go by the instructions printed on the product label exactly.
The best advantage of installing carpeting over a hard, concrete floor is that a once useful space can be turned into a snug, inviting place suitable for living. Once your carpet has been installed and the space feels more snug, you might consider hanging informal accents like palm tree wall art and metal or ceramic sun wall art. Whatever you select, make the most of your fresh room with touches of individual style.

Additional Home Improvement Articles:
Invite Into Your Home with Lighthearted Front Porch Decor
Interesting Accents for the Walls
Adding Interest to a Space with Texture
How to Accurately Measure Stairs for Carpet

Decorative Wall Mounted Wine Racks

The function of a wine rack is to appropriately store your cherished vintage so that the cork remains in sustained contact with the wine inside the bottle instead of becoming mildewed or drying up. But far from the functional wood racks used by winemakers and proprietors of expansive wine cellars, wine racks in beautiful wrought iron or wood can add flair to the décor of a kitchen, dining room or entertainment room. It does not matter if you love streamlined modern-day style, or the romanticism of Old World French Country or Tuscan style, there is a wine rack that will enhance your decor.

A great bonus for the wall mounted wine rack choices on the market is that they do not take up valuable counter space but they are highly ornamental for the wall. And since these wine racks can be displayed in any upright space, including narrow walls and generally unused areas of the wall, they make effective use of otherwise empty space.

Below are two style ideas on how to enhance your décor and make a focal point with wall mounted wine racks.

Home Bar Focal Point Created with Wall Mounted Wine Rack.

If you have a media room, complete with a bar for entertaining friends and family, why not take your wall décor art from standard beer prints and race car posters, to a fresh level of elegance and sophistication? A bigger wall is a remarkable space upon which to display three wall mounted wine racks. Place them in a triangular manner with the middle rack being hung the highest, and the other two parallel with each other and off to the side. Then position another piece of wall art below the center wine rack. Produce a Tuscan vibe by picking out wrought iron Tuscan sun wall art, or a exquisite framed print of a trattoria. Or create a decoupage using labels from your preferred wines, mounted on foam board and then stylishly framed. Wine makers oftentimes stock large posters of unique or yearly released vintages. These can be stylishly framed as well. Add hanging pendant lights that complement your style to light your presentation.

Dining Room in French Country Style.

Transform your dining room into a quaint bungalow on the French countryside by adding basic French toile patterns and an attractive wrought iron wall mounted wine rack. Walls that are finished or papered in cool shades of lively yellow or sky blue and trimmed in buttery cream offer a perfect backdrop. A black wrought iron wall mounted wine rack makes an outstanding focal point. Individual plates with a rooster or sunflower motif are perfect for displaying next to the wine rack to reinforce the French rural motif. A black wrought iron chandelier that is equipped with individual bulb shades in a black and white checkered pattern carries the theme upward. Bestow unique elegance by choosing black and white toile chair cushions. Finish off the look by adding white pottery on a black hutch and positioning a bowl of grapes and other fruits on a sideboard.

Related Interesting Articles:
Putting In Integral Pad Carpet
How to Decorate Hallway Walls
Artists who have Shaped the Development of Modern Sculpture
